- Properly insured in Northern Cyprus
Almost every list of questions from people who want to spend a longer period of time in Northern Cyprus includes the question of the right insurance in Northern Cyprus. The question of the right health insurance in Northern Cyprus , but also worldwide, is often asked. It has probably gotten around by now that insurance outside of Germany can often be much cheaper than what we have known in Germany for decades. Today we're getting to the bottom of the question of how to get the right health insurance in Northern Cyprus in an interview with Robin Lerch, founder and managing director of "Grenzenlos Sicher". Dear Robin, thank you very much for taking the time to speak to us today. You are an expert on the issues of what to consider when taking out health insurance abroad, specifically in Northern Cyprus. Hello dear Samira and Marten, thank you very much for this interview. I would also like to congratulate you on completing your book " North Cyprus Conversations ". I am sure that this book will inspire many people to want to lead a freer and sunnier life, perhaps even in Northern Cyprus. Thank you :-) Let us now begin with what we do as insurers. As insurance brokers, my team and I have specialized in people who are at home all over the world and lead an independent lifestyle - be it as digital nomads, emigrants or world travelers. We want to offer tailor-made solutions for these people. These international insurance solutions are tailored to the individual needs and special requirements of each customer. Insurance abroad, for example in Northern Cyprus, is different than in Germany and that is what we have specialized in. We want to be the long-term and trustworthy point of contact for emigrants, digital nomads and world travelers when it comes to protecting their assets and lives from the financial impact of unforeseen events. Thank you Robin. That lets us know that you are the right person to contact for insurance for emigrants to Northern Cyprus. What can you tell us specifically about that: I myself have been to Northern Cyprus several times. It is a fantastic place to emigrate to. I especially love the nature in Northern Cyprus, the wild donkeys in the east and the Mediterranean food in the small towns. I know that moving to Northern Cyprus brings unique challenges and opportunities. With Northern Cyprus' rich culture, picturesque landscapes, Bellapais Abbey and divided capital Nicosia, this northern part of the island is attracting more and more expats who want to enjoy life in the Eastern Mediterranean to the fullest. But when moving to Northern Cyprus, reliable health insurance is crucial. The health care system in Northern Cyprus is unique due to the separation from the Republic of Cyprus in 1974 and the rapprochement with Turkey, with all the political background. That is why we recommend that anyone moving to Northern Cyprus take a closer look at insurance. In my opinion, it is a necessity for expats to have specially tailored health insurance for Northern Cyprus and the rest of the world. In addition to the beauty of this region, please do not forget the special situation with the European Union, Turkey and not forgetting the presence of the UN in the no man's land behind the "Green Line" that separates the Greek and Turkish communities. On top of that, there is also left-hand traffic from the English past. In my opinion, all emigrants to Northern Cyprus therefore need special health insurance that takes into account both the local conditions and offers the necessary international protection outside of Northern Cyprus. If the readers of this interview take this to heart, a lot will be gained. Thank you Robin. How can expats to Northern Cyprus get in touch with you? I would suggest you register for a free consultation right here and get advice from one of our experts - of course with our best price guarantee! In your opinion, which insurance policies should emigrants to Northern Cyprus primarily consider? Basically, if we are honest, you should never over-insure yourself. However, in my opinion, a functioning health insurance is absolutely necessary in order to avoid a nasty surprise at some point. On the one hand, it is a health insurance for Northern Cyprus The importance of having reliable health insurance in Northern Cyprus cannot be overstated. Given that Northern Cyprus is not recognized as an independent state by the United Nations and has close ties with Turkey, expats face unique challenges when it comes to healthcare. This underlines the need for health insurance that is specifically designed for the unique needs of Northern Cyprus to ensure comprehensive coverage in the event of an emergency as well as for routine health checks. This is very important in my experience when it comes to necessary insurance coverage! Secondly, I would consider international health insurance for expats to Northern Cyprus International health insurance offers expatriates to Northern Cyprus the protection they need by ensuring comprehensive coverage in a region that, as mentioned above, presents unique health risks due to its particular political and geographical location. Such insurance not only guarantees access to high-quality medical facilities in the northern part of the island, but also the freedom to use globally recognized health services. This is particularly valuable because it also allows you to use the health infrastructure in Southern Cyprus. This gives you flexibility in choosing where to receive treatment. As far as I know, you can get to the Greek part in less than 45 minutes. It is definitely a good idea to keep this option open. In my opinion, the specific selection of an international health insurance policy for emigrants to Northern Cyprus should be made very carefully. This is specifically about both the scope of coverage and the ability to coordinate cross-border medical care. This must be taken into account on a case-by-case basis. Specialized insurers who have extensive experience with complex situations such as Northern Cyprus and can therefore offer tailor-made solutions are invaluable in my opinion. Thank you Robin. We have another question: What is the difference between foreign health insurance and international health insurance for Northern Cyprus? This is a common question our team is asked time and time again. The fundamental difference between an overseas health insurance and an international health insurance in Northern Cyprus lies in the coverage and benefits offered. While an overseas health insurance often only provides temporary protection for travelers and is limited to emergency treatment, an international health insurance offers comprehensive protection that covers both emergency care and preventive healthcare services. The latter is essential for long-term expatriates to Northern Cyprus as it provides the necessary security of being able to access quality medical care anytime, anywhere. In addition, international health insurance integrates an understanding of the specific health challenges in Northern Cyprus, including the availability of specialists and medical facilities. Experienced insurance providers specializing in the Northern Cyprus market take into account the complexity of the Turkish and local healthcare systems and offer policyholders tailored solutions that go far beyond simple emergency coverage. Thank you Robin. We understand now. Foreign health insurance and international health insurance in Northern Cyprus are two different things :-) Right. May I point out some special circumstances that might be of interest to you and your readers? In 2024, expatriates to Northern Cyprus have a variety of international health insurance plans available. Finding the best health insurance means choosing a health insurance plan that understands and is tailored to the specific needs of living in this unique region. A great international health insurance plan will have comprehensive benefits that include preventative healthcare, emergency services, outpatient treatment, and possibly even medical evacuation. When evaluating the options available, it is important to consider both the cost of premiums and the fine print regarding deductibles, coverage limits and exclusions. Policies that offer direct billing to hospitals and clinics in Northern Cyprus and beyond provide additional convenience and peace of mind. Equally crucial is choosing an insurer with a strong global network and a reputation for fast and efficient claims settlement. Another important aspect is customer service. An insurance policy that offers multilingual support and 24/7 emergency assistance can be invaluable in the event of a medical emergency. Additionally, expats should give preference to those insurance providers who have specific experience with the healthcare system in Northern Cyprus and can provide tailored advice and support. What I'm trying to say is that the best international health insurance for Northern Cyprus in 2024 is the one that offers a balance between comprehensive coverage, affordable premiums and excellent customer service. By comparing carefully and considering specific needs, expats to Northern Cyprus can find insurance that will provide them with security and peace of mind in their new life in the Eastern Mediterranean. So I can't offer the best provider and the best product in general for all emigrants to Northern Cyprus. It always depends on the person and their needs. That's why we offer your readers directly here and arrange a free appointment with one of our "grenzenlos sicher" consultants. - Are you ready for North Cyprus? The North Cyprus graduate - Part 1!
Would you like to visit North Cyprus and spend your holiday here? Then you need our North Cyprus graduate :-). Get ready for North Cyprus and immerse yourself in the rich treasure of art, history, food and drink that the northern part of the island of Cyprus has to offer. We'll help you. Let's go! What you should know about North Cyprus: Ruins and Monastery Check out the ruins of Salamis . It is probably the most famous ancient site in North Cyprus. It was built a long time ago by the Greek conquerors in the 11th century BC and was even used and expanded by the Romans. Both used this place as an oasis on their trade routes to the Middle East. The ruins bear witness to the social life of its time with theaters, baths and large halls. The old town of Famagusta is another attraction in North Cyprus. It is surrounded by an old city wall. You will find many bars and restaurants in small alleys between old trees and also church buildings such as the St. Nicholas Cathedral. Have you already seen the Soli ruins ? Near Morphou you will find further evidence of Roman influences on Cyprus. There are still the remains of a basilica, a theater and a bathhouse. Now let's move on to another sight. The castle of Kyrenia was built by the Venetians in the 16th century and is perhaps the symbol of North Cyprus. In many pictures you will find the castle together with the harbor. From the elevated castle you will be able to admire the beauty of the recently modernized harbor and get an overview. There is also an exhibition here about the history of Cyprus and even the oldest shipwreck found in the Mediterranean is also here. The ancient merchant ship probably dates back to the 4th century BC. One of the most beautiful villages in North Cyprus is Bellapais . Many visitors are delighted by this village and especially its abbey. This abbey towers above Kyrenia with a breathtaking view and is the heart of the village. To be more precise, the entire village was probably built around the abbey and the work of the monks. The architecture of the complex, built in the 13th century, is exceptionally beautiful. You can visit the complex for a small entrance fee and explore it yourself. In our book " North Cyprus Conversations " we have written extensively about this village and its stories. There is another monastery in the far east. This one has Greek roots and therefore Greek visitors to the island in particular explore this Apostolos Andreas Monastery . This Orthodox monastery is located very close to the Karpas Peninsula in the far eastern tip of Cyprus. The monastery building dates back to the 19th century. We can especially recommend that you taste the water from the large central fountain or wash yourself with it. It is said that water cures illnesses. Another monastery is St. Barnabas. This important religious and cultural center, probably dating back to the 5th century, is named after the Holy Apostle Barnabas. This Orthodox monastery complex still includes the church, the monastery museum and the tomb of St. Barnabas. It is said that he wrote an important written work - The Barnabas Bible. It seems to be so important that the Vatican is still keen to get its hands on it and keep it behind the walls of the Vatican. It is said that the contents of the Barnabas Bible would undermine the foundations of papal doctrine. Therefore, in the eyes of the Vatican, it must never be made available to the public. But where is this Barnabas Bible today? It is said that it is well hidden and kept in Turkey. What you should know about North Cyprus: Castles and Beacons We would also recommend you visit the following castles. The time from October to Easter is particularly suitable, as it is not too warm during these months to climb them on foot. The first castle we would like to introduce is St. Hilarion. This castle was like a fairytale castle. Today, unfortunately, it is almost completely ruined and only a few buildings still withstand the weather. Situated on a ridge between Kyrenia and Nicosia, St. Hilarion offers a spectacular view and overview of the entire island. After some restoration and excavations, the towers, courtyards and tunnels of the castle can now be visited again. The entire complex is very extensive. This castle got its name from the Christian ascetic Hilarion from Gaza. He settled on this mountain and became famous for his works and deeds. The castle was built later and still bears his name today. Buffavento Castle is also a medieval fortress, majestically perched on a mountaintop in the Five Finger Mountains. The castle dates back to the 11th century and was known as the most menacing prison of its time. Originally it was also a place of jousting, celebrations and a lavish castle life. But in the hard years of Henry II's reign, the castle's joy was pulled. Kantara Castle is a fortress further east. It dates back to the Byzantine period and offers spectacular views in all directions and over the Mediterranean Sea. The fortress is easily reached by hiking about 3 km from the village of Kantara. Incidentally, the castles of St. Hilarion, Buffavento, Kantara and also the castle in Kyrenia were a perfect warning system for the island. When threats from the sea were imminent, the population could be warned by the beacons and signal smoke from these castles across the entire island. However, all of the castles came to an abrupt end in the Genoese era. In their view, the defense and warning system of the beacons had served its purpose. The castles were no longer modern enough for them and were more of a threat from within in the event of possible uprisings. They therefore demolished all of the castles, rendering them unusable and uninhabitable. This also explains the decay and current state of all of the castles. However, we are now seeing tendencies towards preservation and partial reconstruction for visitors and guests from all over the world. What you should know about North Cyprus: Cities and places Which cities and places in North Cyprus do we recommend visiting? What are the most popular places in North Cyprus? Inland is the capital of both the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. Nicosia is the last divided city in the world. Nicosia is divided into the Greek Cypriot south and the Turkish Cypriot north. It is absolutely exciting to visit the historic old town with its narrow and winding streets, traditional houses and impressive buildings, such as the Selimiye Mosque and the large hammam. Famagusta, Bafra and Iskele are located on the southeastern coastline of North Cyprus. The contrasts couldn't be greater. Nowhere else do North Cypriot modernity and historical sites meet as unexpectedly as in this region. The contrasts between high-rise buildings and old buildings do not yet create a harmonious picture. Nevertheless, life is in full swing here and it is a popular holiday magnet for many people. Let us now turn to the towns and villages on the northern coastline of North Cyprus Kyrenia , also known as Girne, is a growing and bustling but still charming port town. Almost every visitor to North Cyprus will stroll along the newly restored port and through the old town. The town has a picturesque old town centre with narrow streets. The hustle and bustle is always restless but not hectic. Tourists are not harassed and can have a lovely day in Kyrenia. The many restaurants and bars tempt you with their traditional food. Perhaps you have some time for a short or longer boat trip along the coast. This view from the sea is a very special experience. You can see the town of Kyrenia and the mountain range of the Five Finger Mountain behind it. Especially at sunset you can discover other beautiful sides of North Cyprus. Further east of Kyrenia is the town of Esentepe . Esentepe means something like "windy mountain". Once a sleepy coastal town with many surrounding pristine beaches and idyllic landscapes, it has turned out to be a popular place for holidaymakers and expats alike. Esentepe is particularly popular with Germans. Of course, you will also find important archaeological sites here in Esentepe, including ancient ruins and tombs from Roman times. But more importantly, you will find an almost perfect environment for hiking and exploring the natural beauty of North Cyprus. Bahceli is a picturesque place further east along the north coast of North Cyprus. Bahceli has become interesting for many visitors due to its beautiful bays and beaches. There are still few water sports here, but we guarantee that this will change quickly. The area around Bahceli is surrounded by the mountains in the south and lots of green hills. This is not the only reason why Bahceli, which means something like "garden", has... Tatlisu is another quiet village, further east along the road. Tatlisu is still a sleepy little place with a relaxed atmosphere. There are impressive olive groves, citrus trees and other agricultural activities. A lot of investment is being made here in Tatlisu. The roads are being renovated and expats are settling here because it is a great place to enjoy nature. Tatlisu means something like "sweet water". On the other side of Girne is Lapta. West of Kyrenia, North Cyprus is also very beautiful. Lapta is a thriving coastal resort with a wealth of leisure activities. The area is known for its first class 5 star hotels, resorts and restaurants. Lapta also offers some beautiful beaches and is a popular spot for water sports such as snorkelling, diving, sailing and jet skiing. There are also historical sites in the area such as Lapta Castle which provide an insight into the rich history of the region. What you should know about North Cyprus: Leisure The Turkish Republic of Cyprus offers excellent potential for leisure activities due to its topography and climate. There are still many things that are not available on the island. Perhaps this is even your opportunity to find a job of your dreams here. But there are already a lot of possibilities. We can think of the following things, which definitely cannot be complete Water sports (sailing, motorboating, kitesurfing, wingsurfing, surfing, diving) Land sports (horse riding, tennis, golf, paddle tennis, badminton, basketball, football, hunting and horse riding) Winter sports (in the Republic of Cyprus there is a small ski resort in the Troodos Mountains) Nature (hiking, jogging, cycling, swimming, bathing) We personally expect the range of leisure activities to grow exponentially. The people who will demand a lot of leisure activities are now here. The number of holidaymakers is increasing sharply. Anyone who offers a leisure service in their field will find an interested audience. These were the topics of "The North Cyprus graduate - Part 1". Follow Part 2 and find out more. sincerely Samira & Marten

- Is Cyprus dangerous? A look at the security situation on the island
Hello dear reader of this blog post. Today I would like to shed light on the general security situation on the island of Cyprus. Is the island of Cyprus a safe holiday destination or not? That is the question! The question also arises as to whether Northern Cyprus is a safe country to live in. I will share some background information and experiences with you. We have already written a well-received book about Northern Cyprus, which, among other things, deals with the security situation on the island of Cyprus and Northern Cyprus in particular. Our book also deals with many other aspects, from holidays in Northern Cyprus, emigration, to politics and history. Many people have their say in the form of personal interviews, which will give you a deeper impression of Northern Cyprus from their personal point of view. Our book " Northcyprus Conversations " is in color and over 400 pages long. History and domestic political situation in Cyprus Perhaps a brief overview of Cyprus's past decades will help you better understand the country's current security. Cyprus is an island in the eastern Mediterranean and has been divided geographically and socially for decades. This did not begin with the division in 1974. The division and separation of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots began at the latest during the time of the British occupation. During this time, for example, the British occupiers divided the people of Cyprus by recruiting the minority of Turkish Cypriots exclusively for police service. Greek Orthodox Cypriots were prohibited from entering these offices during this time. This and many other methods of division ignited resentment among the Cypriot population. Reservations, resentment and mistrust continued to grow. Only with the end of the colonial era, when the British crown withdrew and Cyprus was granted its long-awaited freedom as the Republic of Cyprus in 1960, was Cyprus able to develop again. However, the decades of injustice and separation games became increasingly visible and began to exert their divisive power in politics and society. The separation into Greek and Turkish Cypriots had long since taken place and was also making its way inexorably in the joint Republic of Cyprus. This affected the people themselves, who for the most part lived "next door to door" and valued each other, to a much lesser extent. The separation between the people arose first and foremost in politics and the responsible elites. Even if there was no need for further fuel to fuel the fire of these tendencies towards separation from the outside, this was found in the geopolitical expansionist desires of Greece and certainly also of Turkey. Their ideas about who Cyprus should ultimately be assigned to and integrated with were symbolically not only the fuel, but also the match in this conflict! Separation was therefore only a matter of time. Due to massive pressure, particularly from Greece, a kind of genocide against the Turkish Cypriot population was carried out, following the example of Crete, which, as so often, received little international attention. The aim was annexation to the growing Greece. The pleading international cries for help from the oppressed Turkish Cypriot minority largely went unheard during the 1960s and early 1970s. The narrative of the Greek Cypriots was already too firmly established in the negotiating rooms of international embassies and the UN. The situation became increasingly threatening for the minority and there were more and more attacks, threats and a lot of bloodshed. An increasingly escalating war between the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots, together with the Greeks from the mainland, was the logical and provoked result. It was not until the mid-1970s that Turkey alone heard the cries for help from its compatriots in the Mediterranean. They freed the Turkish Cypriots from this oppressive situation through military action and occupied about a third of the country, thus separating the two ethnic groups from each other to this day. Since this invasion, there is now the Republic of Cyprus in the south, which governs about 60% of the island's land, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which claims and administers about 33% of the land. I say this because this claim has been confirmed and recognized exclusively by Turkey since 1974. For the Republic of Cyprus, however, it remains their country and their island, which unfortunately cannot currently be governed by them. The remaining parts of the island of Cyprus are administered independently by the UN as a buffer zone ("green line", for example, which runs right through the common capital of Nicosia) between north and south. On top of that, around 6% of the country is still in British hands. The island is probably too important geopolitically in the "Middle East" to be given up entirely. This means that 3 military bases remain from the colonial era. Demands of the Republic of Cyprus and the Republic of Northern Cyprus After all these decades of division, the Republic of Cyprus still has no choice but to return the territories to the occupying power of Turkey. Recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has never been an option for the Republic of Cyprus since 1974. Even with the best will in the world of a Greek Cypriot politician, recognition would be unthinkable. Just a public discussion about it would mean immediate political ruin for this politician. It is, so to speak, an impossibility for the Republic of Cyprus. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has also made a decision. A union without the documented rights of self-government and without equal recognition is never an option for the government of Northern Cyprus, as Dr. Kücück, Rauf Denktas and today Ersin Tatar have repeatedly confirmed. The current President, Mr. Ersin Tatar, confirmed this again very clearly in our interview. So today, as for the last almost 50 years, we are at the point where both countries live on one island and have a lot in common, but to this day they have not been able to find their way back to each other. Nevertheless, the situation today can be classified as safe! Cyprus’ security situation since joining the EU in 2004 The domestic political situation has been much more relaxed and very safe, especially since the Republic of Cyprus joined the EU. At least on the social and public surface, these two countries now live side by side more peacefully. When Cyprus joined the EU in May 2004, a tense tug-of-war between the EU, Greece and Turkey over Cyprus ended. Even if not everyone involved is happy that only the Republic of Cyprus became part of the EU, after all the struggle, the fronts were clear. The opportunity to reach an agreement with the north was once again missed. Northern Cyprus, like Turkey, did not become part of the EU. Fortunately, this opened up new options that had not such bad consequences for both parts of the island. The Republic of Cyprus was able to develop economically thanks to the support of the EU. Northern Cyprus, on the other hand, was now able to enter into a kind of small economic union with Turkey. The times of total isolation and absolute economic embargo were over. At the same time, Northern Cyprus opened its borders to the south on its own initiative. Since then, the "small-scale border traffic" has also opened up many new opportunities for cultural, family and economic exchange. Who knows where Cyprus would be today if this process in connection with the EU had never taken place. Today, crossing the border from south to north and vice versa is very easy and traveling to the area of Northern Cyprus is absolutely safe. It is absolutely not dangerous to go on holiday in Cyprus. Border traffic runs smoothly through many checkpoints and of course without harassment. More and more goods are now reaching the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus via the small border traffic with the south (Green Line), but of course also mainly via Turkey as a strong ally. Likewise, more and more investments are being made in the north of the island of Cyprus. The everyday life and growth of both countries has long since overshadowed and partly overcome the disputes and war of the former separation policy. As a result, you hardly find any travel advice that it is dangerous to go on holiday in Cyprus. Security on the island of Cyprus can also be rated as very good. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in particular is considered to be an absolutely safe country with extremely low crime rates. In contrast to Dubai, this low crime rate is not due to the high digital security precautions, but to the mentality of the Turkish Cypriots. In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, it is due to the country's past, mentality and culture. Theft, drugs and social tensions are virtually non-existent, making it very safe to stay. The traders in the streets are not pushy at all. They are more reserved and cautious. Women can move around freely and are not harassed on the street or at sea. Every European holidaymaker immediately notices this when they stroll for the first time, for example, along the beautiful, newly rebuilt historic harbor in Girne. A trip to the holiday island of Cyprus and especially to Northern Cyprus is therefore not dangerous (Cyprus vacation)! A look at the current political situation on the island Politically, little has happened in recent years. The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, who was elected in 2023, and his counterpart in Northern Cyprus maintain an exchange, but there has been no movement on the main topic of "unification" for years. It now seems to me that all parties have come to terms with the status quo. The south is waiting and has no political or international counter-pressure to fear. There is no reason to deviate from the original demands, as the Republic of Cyprus is accepted on the international stage, especially in the Western world. The north is also not moving because it rightly insists on its independence and integrity. The years of genocide and hardship were too painful. The Ottoman population in Cyprus should never suffer a fate like that of Crete. The north is backed by Turkey's still strong military presence. No change in attitude is therefore to be expected from this side. Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of this, all holiday destinations in the North Cyprus region are characterized by the highest level of security. The almost naively innocent official attitude of the English officials is always interesting. As a colonial power, they were largely to blame for this division. However, they themselves see their current trade in Cyprus, according to the official interpretation, as a help and a bringer of peace. Eltan Halil, for example, is of the opinion that without the current English presence, there would be no peace on the island. TO THE ARTICLE! I think it is exactly the other way round. If the English crown were to leave the three military bases and return the land, the chance of lasting peace could increase significantly. But that is not yet apparent in the short term. Security in Cyprus despite war between Israel and Palestine. Is Cyprus dangerous in war? Since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and Palestine, Cyprus has repeatedly appeared in the media. Why? This conflict between Israel and Palestine has intensified significantly again in October 2023. According to press releases, the Palestinian Hamas fired rockets at Israel in October. According to the relevant media, around 1,500 people died in Israel in this context. This escalated the Middle East conflict, which had been simmering for decades and which has been reignited at regular intervals since the founding of the State of Israel. Since this rocket fire, Israel's government has decided to wage another war against its Palestinian neighbors. Since this decision, a lot of people, especially Palestinians, have been killed. The need is great. For military and humanitarian aid, a kind of hub is needed from which supplies can be sent to the Middle East. As was the case during the Crusades from Europe to Jerusalem in the 11th to 13th centuries, Cyprus has been found as a suitable place to recharge, linger and gather. England, with its current three military bases, still has sufficient resources in this region at the gates of the Middle East, even after the times of the great empire. Due to Cyprus' outstanding geographical location, which has been known for thousands of years, ships and relief goods are again sent from here today. These start from the south of the island, i.e. from the Republic of Cyprus, where the three British bases are also located. More about the geopolitical background in our book " Northcyprus Conversations ". Especially since March 2024, there has been increased humanitarian support from Cyprus to Palestine. However, since there is no infrastructure there for large ships and fleets to dock, the aid supplies were shipped east on pontoons, towed by suitable ships. These floating platforms could not be shipped across the Mediterranean from Greece, for example, but only very slowly, over short distances. These ships need several days to travel the approximately 150 km. This is only possible when the sea is absolutely calm. Therefore, Cyprus is important in the context of the conflict between Israel and Palestine for many reasons. On the island itself, life continues to be peaceful and quiet. Especially in Northern Cyprus, people don't hear anything about the war between Israel and Palestine. There are no disturbances in Northern Cyprus and no bad or even anxious atmosphere. Despite the conflict between Israel and Palestine, holidays and flights in Cyprus and Northern Cyprus are, as always, very safe. Security in Cyprus despite war between Israel and Iran There has been another conflict in the Middle East since April 2024. According to media reports, Iran has attacked Israel. This was probably a response to the killing of high-ranking military officials in Damascus. Here too, the situation between these two countries is getting worse and Israel's response to Iran is still not entirely clear. Many people around the world are now worried and afraid about how the Middle East will develop in the foreseeable future. The conflicts between Israel and its Arab neighbors generally seem to be getting worse. From a geopolitical perspective, one can speak of regulatory changes in the medium term that are necessary, helpful and long overdue. However, on a human level, it is a tragedy with great suffering and horror for the populations of all affected countries. May these conflicts find their solution soon, because no one can be seriously interested in an escalation in the Middle East between Israel and the Western world against the Arab world, including its supporters. Based on the Ukraine conflict, one can roughly estimate how long such a war could drag on and what the result would be. But this conflict between Iran and Israel also has no influence on Cyprus. Cyprus is safe for the population and holidaymakers. Cyprus is only particularly important as a British base for humanitarian aid. To this day, vacationing and living in Cyprus and Northern Cyprus is very safe and unaffected by these wars between Israel and Palestine and Israel and Iran. If anything changes here, we will keep you updated on this website. More about the geopolitical background in our book " Northcyprus Conversations ". Health notices and natural disasters My health advice for Cyprus is very simple. The health care on the island is very good. I was particularly surprised by the very good state of the health care system in Northern Cyprus. There are public polyclinics, modern university clinics and English hospitals. In addition to normal medical care, there is even an emerging medical tourism sector. Many visitors to Northern Cyprus now state "medical reasons" as their destination when entering the country. There is no need to take any special precautions for Cyprus, just as there is no need to take any special precautions for a trip to Mallorca, for example. However, if you are unsure, you should always check the travel information provided by the Foreign Office and the relevant embassy before travelling to Cyprus. The risk of natural disasters in Cyprus is very low. There are hardly any tsunami waves or earthquakes here. Only forest fires in the summer are possible to a limited extent but are unlikely. The government in Northern Cyprus has also taken very strong precautions to improve safety here. In my opinion, Cyprus is safe in terms of medical care and the risk of natural disasters. Customs regulations and entry requirements What are the customs regulations in Cyprus? The Republic of Cyprus is located within the EU. Therefore, the same customs regulations apply here as everywhere else in the EU. Basically, the movement of goods is free as long as it is not commercial. In Northern Cyprus, imports of 10,000 euros or more must be declared. Goods from the Republic of Cyprus can be brought to Northern Cyprus. However, these must be declared through customs if they exceed a certain value. The amount of this amount must be inquired about in advance. You can enter Northern Cyprus by ferry, by car from the south or by plane. You can enter with your ID card or passport. The maximum length of stay is 30 days. If you are staying longer, you should leave and re-enter on time or apply to the police for an extension. There are heavy fines if you exceed this date. So to be on the safe side, I recommend leaving the country on time and re-entering on the same day if possible. How safe are the beaches and the sea? As in the rest of the country, the beaches are very safe. There is hardly any theft or other crime. Cyprus is a safe travel destination and you can plan and book your holiday to Northern Cyprus without any worries. This also applies to families with children. The sea is also safe. There are no dangerous currents, animals or anything else. Northern Cyprus has very clear and clean water and is one of the countries with the best water quality in the entire Mediterranean. This is because there is very little industry in Northern Cyprus, but instead there are many nature reserves. This benefits both the many animal species, such as turtles, and us holidaymakers. How safe is it to travel in Cyprus? Traveling in Cyprus is also very safe. This applies to taking a taxi or even driving your own car or a rental car. There is no train or tram in Northern Cyprus. You can only use public buses. The roads are of course not as safe as in Germany. There are often no crash barriers and no proper road markings. Everything is just a little less developed than in Germany. However, you are generally not allowed to drive as fast here. The usual speeds are 50 km/h or 65 km/h. I would recommend this for two reasons: Firstly, there are heavy fines for speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol. But I also recommend it for safety reasons. If you drive too fast and are not careful enough, the risk of an accident is increased. The typical Cypriot is just as unprepared for "speeders" as he is for the many hitchhikers and pedestrians on the side of the road. That's why a Mediterranean driving style is the best choice in Cyprus. Then a trip by car in Northern Cyprus is safe. Are Germans welcome in Cyprus? It is generally said that foreigners, including Germans, are very welcome in Cyprus. My own experience goes back to 2018. I cannot remember a case in which the opposite was reflected to me. I feel very welcome and safe in Northern Cyprus. When you travel to a foreign country, you should also be open to the foreign culture. I have always been that way and I try to maintain it. In all the conversations I have always been shown respect, joy and openness. As a German, I feel very safe in Northern Cyprus. I am sure that you will also rate Northern Cyprus as safe. Not only because it has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Whether inland or at the border, the "green line", I feel very safe. The political situation has been so stable for years that I have never felt any danger in Northern Cyprus. For me, Northern Cyprus is a very safe country on a safe island. I think that with these tips you can plan your vacation with a good feeling. This applies to trips for seniors as well as trips with the family and children. - Update on: Entry, visa & stay in Northern Cyprus: Everything you currently need to know about it
Hello dear reader of our blog on our website www.nordzypernaufeinwort.de ! We published our comprehensive book "Northern Cyprus in a Word" in 2024. There you will also find topics and content such as staying in Northern Cyprus, entry, visa. We have also described a lot more such as history, history, politics, real estate by the sea and also the culture and mentality of Northern Cyprus. In this book we also let many people have their say in the form of interviews. Including the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Mr. Ersin Tatar. Please order it if you would like to be fully informed about Northern Cyprus as a holiday destination and an opportunity to emigrate and invest. Please order here ... Normal: Types of stay in Northern Cyprus - vacation up to 30 days Now let's talk about staying in Northern Cyprus. As you can imagine, this information is constantly changing, so please save our website so you don't miss any news or updates, for example about staying in Northern Cyprus or other current topics relating to Northern Cyprus. Combined with our book, you will stay well informed. If you are traveling to Northern Cyprus for the first time and setting foot on the island of Cyprus, you will certainly have planned a stay in Northern Cyprus of less than 30 days. For this period of stay in Northern Cyprus you do not need a complicated visa or residency. It is, so to speak, a tourist trip like most other countries in the world. It is important to know that although Cyprus is an island, it consists of several countries and zones. There is the Republic of Cyprus in the south of the island. This is the well-known part that joined the EU over 20 years ago. Because of the flag with the entire island of Cyprus on it, one might think that the Republic of Cyprus is taking over the entire territory of the island. But this is not the case. There is also the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the north with around 1/3 of the island's land area. This Turkish-speaking country seceded from the Greek-speaking Republic of Cyprus in 1974 with the help of Turkey. At that time, a peaceful, parallel life for the Greek and Turkish populations was no longer possible without civil war. There are also two independent English bases and areas from the colonial period until 1960 on this island. These 6% of the island do not belong to the Republic of Cyprus or the Republic of Northern Cyprus. The UN is another similar player. It guards and owns the "buffer zone" between Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Cyprus in the south and is also independently organized. When you enter Northern Cyprus, you will likely land at Ercan Airport in the capital Nicosia. This is located in Northern Cyprus. If you land in Larnaca or Paphos , you are still in the south of the Republic of Cyprus and therefore in the EU. To get to Northern Cyprus you will have to take a car or taxi to Northern Cyprus and cross the border. There, just like at Ercan Airport in Nicosia, the entry modalities are clarified. Tourists and foreigners are granted a 30-day stay in Northern Cyprus at the border as usual. Either a corresponding stamp is placed in the passport or you are given a piece of paper with this stamp on it, which you have to show again when you leave the country. This usually happens when you enter with an ID card . However, it is not uncommon for there to be no stamp. Basically, this is not important for tourists as they will not exceed 30 days. This means you are in the north of the island in Northern Cyprus. Welcome ! What does it mean to have residency in Northern Cyprus? However, if you visit Northern Cyprus often, for example because you have purchased a property by the sea in this country, you may need a longer right for your stay in Northern Cyprus. There is a residence permit through real estate investment specifically for these purposes. It is valid for up to one year and can be extended as long as you own a property in Northern Cyprus. In Northern Cyprus, although there is no minimum investment required for the residence, the minimum square meters must be at least 17. The property may only be used for residential purposes . This should not be a commercial property, otherwise the residence in Northern Cyprus will certainly be rejected. It may be important for you to know that only one of the owners listed on the property deed can receive a residence permit. However, your own family members can also receive a residence permit. This applies to spouses, children and life partners (for life partners without a marriage certificate, this can be witnessed by a notary in Northern Cyprus). Another requirement for this right to stay in Northern Cyprus is the financial aspect . The owner must prove that he has enough money to pay all the installments for this house. In addition to the outstanding payment, the savings must also be three times the minimum wage in Northern Cyprus. The state wants to ensure that the foreigner of the Republic of Northern Cyprus will not be left out of pocket. Only with this financial evidence can the application for a residence permit be approved. UPDATE: There are always adjustments here. At the moment the amount to be deposited per applicant is 16,000 British pounds sterling in an account in Northern Cyprus. We've even heard of GBP 20,000. This must even be stored throughout the entire application process. Please ask for the exact amount when submitting your application. When applying for residency due to property ownership, it is important to know that such a residence permit in the Republic of Northern Cyprus does not entitle you to work or do business within this country. Foreigners must apply for a separate work permit in order to be able to legally work on site. A residence permit issued by the Government of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) also does not allow you to live in Turkey. This is a separate procedure because the TRNC and Turkey are two separate states and their citizens are different citizens. What other types of residences are there for staying in Northern Cyprus? In addition to obtaining a residence permit through real estate investments, there are other options. There are also special entry requirements for families on this Mediterranean island. This means that relatives of citizens in Northern Cyprus can visit relatives for up to 90 days. Then there is the residence permit for students . This is valid for up to 60 days. This applies to all students, regardless of which country or college/university they are enrolled in. For your trip, Northern Cyprus offers a simplified option for staying in Northern Cyprus. There is also a residence permit for judicial and administrative purposes in Northern Cyprus. This residence permit is approved by the government until the termination of these services. Then there is the permit to stay in Northern Cyprus for scientific research purposes . This extends to the duration of the research work. There are now well over 100,000 students in Northern Cyprus. Residence permits for graduates of TRNC universities must be applied for separately and are valid for 2 semesters. In practice, these visas start in September and end in the same month of the following year. More detailed information can be obtained from the relevant universities. UPDATE: Overall, however, most residence permits are based on a property purchase . According to statements from friends from Northern Cyprus, around 400,000 real estate residences will have been applied for in 2023. This is a number that is currently difficult for the bureaucracy to process. Why is residency in Northern Cyprus important and what are the advantages of residing in Northern Cyprus? Basically, you can always plan your vacation in Northern Cyprus without a residence . This property residence only becomes important if you want to stay in Northern Cyprus permanently. These questions never arise for German vacationers at the beginning. However, from case to case, one or the other falls in love with the island immediately and wants to stay here forever. Likewise, there are many property owners who want to live here. It is important for these people. If you apply for this residency, you can then enter and leave Northern Cyprus as many times a year as you like. How do I apply for residency to stay in Northern Cyprus? You can submit this application yourself . To do this, use the government website for IKAMET . You can find the current government regulations here on the website www.infonorthcyprus.com . All current information is listed under the topic Residence Permit. However, we advise you against this. Save your nerves and go to the beach instead, enjoy the sun, palm trees and the sea and invest in a lawyer or accountant who will take these steps with you. Residency in Northern Cyprus: Requirements that must be met Back to the topic of staying in Northern Cyprus. What are the residency requirements and conditions that you still have to fulfill? The first steps of registration are still very simple. You upload your own data as well as your ID card and, if applicable, that of your family members on the government website. This is the first step. This is followed by an appointment with the police. By the way, the official language in the police immigration office is Turkish and English, but definitely not Greek. UPDATE: The appointment with the police can take up to 2-6 months! This delays the application. These waiting times are currently common, especially for extensions. Experience has shown that the first application is quicker. You are not allowed to leave the country during this time between the application and the police appointment. This is important to know because there are financial penalties involved. What documents must be provided for a residence in Northern Cyprus? Second step: The following things must be handed in to the police: In any case, you will need a certificate of residence issued by your municipality in Northern Cyprus. You can get these from the Muhtar (pronounced Mukhtar). The document is the Muhtar Letter . It costs a few lira and is filled out, signed and stamped by hand on an A5 form. You should have your purchase contract and your passport with you. This certificate must not be older than six months. You will also need the bank statement from your Northern Cypriot account, which proves your financial stability by stating your savings and/or monthly income. UPDATE: Currently £16,000. People often ask whether a German account is sufficient. This varies from case to case. It is often not welcomed as it could easily be forged and it is difficult for the state of Northern Cyprus to verify it in the EU. Likewise, copies of the property purchase contract and the title deed must be submitted with information about the buyer's identity. All data is important. Also, how much the property is currently paid off (at least 33%). Please also enclose a copy of your non-EU passport that is valid for at least another six months or an EU passport that is valid for at least another two months. 2 (number) passport photos are mandatory. The original police clearance certificate for your country must be submitted. This must not be older than six months. If you also want to register your family members , obtain the same documents or copies of them for everyone in your family. In addition, family membership must be proven with a marriage certificate for the partner and a birth certificate for the children. For unmarried couples, obtain the certification from a notary in Northern Cyprus as already described. All of these documents must be handed in to the police . If the police have successfully checked your documents after about 10 days, there will be confirmation on the government website. Health check 3rd step: In the 3rd phase you will receive a payment request for the health test and health insurance in Northern Cyprus for one year on the government website. Find the location and name of the laboratory responsible for you from which you receive your examinations about your health condition on the website. The results here are available very quickly, but within 7 days at the latest on the website in your account. UPDATE Two things: Make sure you submit the application before your right to stay in Northern Cyprus expires! A fine is unpleasant, but the negative impression it creates is greater. A possible further fine would then be twice as high. The second thing is, as mentioned, that you should NOT leave the country between the application and the police appointment. No matter how long it takes until this appointment. This would also result in fines. If you have to leave the Republic of Northern Cyprus for urgent reasons, notify the police in person or through a lawyer/accountant beforehand! The fines can quickly exceed the 10,000 GBP limit if the residency process drags on . What documents are required to apply for residency? summarized: Muhtar letter statement of account Real estate purchase agreement Passport copy Passport photos criminal record certificate Marriage certificate and birth certificate for family members The authorities will provide you with information in a timely manner as to what additional documents you will need for your stay in Northern Cyprus. Teach them quickly so that your visa or residency can be approved quickly. How long does it take to obtain a residence permit in Northern Cyprus? UPDATE: It shouldn't take longer than 8-10 weeks. However, the flood of applications is too great. Volunteers are now helping out. So expect it to take 3-6 months, especially for extensions. Historical background Since the de facto division of the country into the Republic of Cyprus and the Republic of Northern Cyprus from 1974, Northern Cyprus has hardly been a tourist destination due to the lack of recognition . The security advice from the Foreign Office was worrying. All states except Turkey refused to recognize the Republic of Northern Cyprus. On the contrary, there was even economic exclusion from world trade . It was only with the Republic of Cyprus's participation in the EU and the opening of the borders by the Republic of Northern Cyprus in 2003 that life in Northern Cyprus returned to normal. Entry was made easier and the area in northern Cyprus was able to gradually recover. In the next few years, Northern Cyprus recorded an increased arrival of foreign holidaymakers. English and Scandinavians in particular visited the island because of the low prices and the perfect Mediterranean climate. Some people ignored the safety instructions and started buying seaside property here. That was probably the beginning. There was a slight setback in 2008 due to the banking crisis , which hit southern Cyprus in particular. But the Republic of Northern Cyprus continued to develop steadily despite all the disadvantages compared to its sisters and brothers in the south. They made lemonade out of lemons, as we described in our book "Northern Cyprus in a nutshell" . The lemonade really became noticeable in 2021 . Since then, more and more people have been questioning their personal life plans. For some people , living on an island with palm trees, a pool and the sea is a declared goal . Therefore, applications for extended stays in Northern Cyprus have increased since then. Nevertheless, in 2021/22 the process for a long-term stay in Northern Cyprus was still much easier for a person from the EU. Although you also had to obtain this information, the residency process was much easier and quicker. Although the number of trips and applications for longer stays in Northern Cyprus have quadrupled since 2021, the government in Northern Cyprus only changed the requirements from 2023. The authorities could hardly keep up with the processing of applications for longer stays in Northern Cyprus. Despite the website for the application, a lot of things still have to be entered and checked by hand in the authorities . Therefore, the current conditions in the form of deposits to be deposited in the bank account had to be made more difficult in order to prevent the flood of applications for extended stay in Northern Cyprus. Nevertheless, we are of the opinion that the effort involved in applying for residency is worth it if you are planning a longer stay in Northern Cyprus. The northern part of the island has so much to offer that it is completely understandable why so many foreigners want to move here and plan a long stay in Northern Cyprus. Despite these entry regulations, Northern Cyprus de facto became a paradise. Foreigners don't actually care about the increased effort involved in applying if they have found someone who will take care of it. So here again is our recommendation to seek support. From our observation, this support costs little more than GBP 400 to GBP 600. Sufficient financial coverage in Northern Cyprus Summarized: Open an account in Northern Cyprus and deposit GBP 16,000 for the application for an extended stay in Northern Cyprus. The banks here even pay 2.5% interest per year. Of course, this varies from bank to bank and needs to be asked. There is probably more possible :-) The government in Northern Cyprus wants to ensure that you can support yourself. How much does residency in Northern Cyprus cost? In addition to the costs of organizing advice from a lawyer or accountant (around 400 to 600 euros), the cost of a residence in Northern Cyprus is 1800 TL . With an exchange rate of 1:30, this corresponds to around 60 euros. Our book: Northern Cyprus in a word We have written our book "Northern Cyprus in a nutshell" to answer these and many other questions. Prepare yourself for this country. It is informative for you as a holidaymaker as well as an expat and contains knowledge and valuable insider information that will get you ready for the island. Here you will also find new developments and updates that will keep you up to date. Maybe we'll see you soon on the island Sincerely, Samira & Marten
- @Home by Heidi Trautmann-Homage to Art, Northern Cyprus and Sailing with the Wind
Born in 1941, artist, author, sailing globetrotter and much more. Heidi Trautmann has lived in North Cyprus for 25 years now. She is known as a leader and supporter in the arts and cultural scene of North Cyprus. We were invited for an interview at her home in Girne. What fireworks of authenticity! And that at the age of 81. We would have loved to have listened to her artistic stories all night long. Heidi Trautmann, a mixture flows through your veins: The art of colours, words, music and traveling all over the world. Everything about her seems real, because everything she thinks about, she puts into practice. Whether it's the construction of her own sailing boat "Early Bird", with which she sailed the world's oceans with her great love for over 6 years, or the local artist scene in Northern Cyprus, which was not discovered and promoted until her appearance. No thought of ideas remains hidden from her. "Doesn't exist - doesn't exist, you just have to want to find it. Her work over the past 25 years on the island has not only greatly influenced and promoted local artists. She has also helped to introduce and detail local artists to foreign residents. She is a member of the Art Association and runs her own group of artists, "The Thursday Artists". She founded associations and communities in which art and culture could be presented and exchanged. She has also written three books about her different passions. She is currently writing her fourth book, her biography, the manuscript of which we were able to marvel at on your dining room table. She has also published other art catalogs and written for English language newspapers. A total of three hours of interview flew by. It was no wonder, with a person who was allowed to experience so much. Heidi Trautmann is a thoroughly inspired person who is not afraid of life, her own ideas and constant change. It is rich and fills the last pore of one's own spirit. She discovered her home base in "Northern Cyprus" 25 years ago with her sailing boat when she anchored in the harbor in front of Girne. Both you and your husband quickly agreed - this place, the indescribable light and the warmth of the people here - this should be the place where you want to settle after six years on the boat. And the Journey goes on.... ***You can follow Heidi Trautmann here: http://www.heiditrautmann.com/about.aspx https: //www.emu.edu.tr/en/news/news/heidi-trautmann-exhibition-in-nicosia/1206/pid/2232 And discover the art scene of Northern Cyprus European Mediterranean Art Association: https://emaa-cyp.org/?lang=en :https://cyprusscene.com/tag/heidi-trautmann/http://newcyprusmagazine.com/heidi-trautmann-launches-her -second-book/
- Musician, prof. Soccer & lucky in his job - Ahmet Esenyel - tells us his formula for happiness
With a mindset shaped by - WHY YOU WORRY? (by Gaur Gopal youtube) - today we are going into a very joyful interview with one of the most likeable jacks of all trades in Northern Cyprus. It is with great joy that we arrive at the villa of our friends, the "Esenyels", in Bellapais/ Kyrenia on a Friday afternoon. We are warmly welcomed by Ahmet, his wife Vildan and the two Maltese dogs "Rocco" & "Bella". We are good friends and we were able to round off our long awaited and planned interview with both Esenyels with a fantastic dinner together afterwards. We spent the whole afternoon in the fantastically magnificent, almost fairytale-like garden and immediately found the perfect place for the interview with Ahmet (& Bella). Under the citrus tree - Ahmet's favorite spot. "Why you worry" - everything was under the best possible conditions. With this high vibrating energy, the two started an interview about Ahmet's life in Northern Cyprus. As already mentioned, a jack of all trades, musician, football professional and very successful professionally and known beyond the country's borders. Thanks to his many years of experience as a strategic manager for large companies and construction companies, he now acts very successfully as an investment consultant for real estate and land purchases. He is a born investment advisor as he knows the mentalities of people from different regions of the world and is an absolute insider of the island. This unique combination makes it one of the most sought-after investment destinations on the island. We take a journey through Ahmet's life and he talks about his passions, music and football. These have accompanied him for a long time and still do so. This is where his principle of happiness gradually manifests itself. Live your passions, your values, love, joy, family, friends, sports and music and you can overcome any difficulty, no matter how big. Even the dramatic separation of North & South Cyprus which he witnessed himself. Of course, this event had an impact on him and his family. But Ahmet is one of those people who can take a painful experience as an educational gift and still look positively to the future. Anyway, we can't change the past, but we can change the moment and the future. And that is what his home island needs in the awakening process. Clever visionaries and minds with experience and multidimensional knowledge. Because the pearl of North Cyprus is just beginning its growth journey to international interest and recognition. The countless advantages of the island were no longer only discovered by the English. In addition to the Middle East, there have been major inflows from over 30 countries. Leading the way are Scandinavians, German-speaking and also Eastern Europeans who have been investing in the island for over 10 years and some of whom have also relocated their center of life. The "last pearl in the Mediterranean" has long since been kissed awake and now there is a lot to do and that makes me happy. Nevertheless, Ahmet is an artist of work-life balance and his great love for family must never be neglected. His eyes sparkle when he talks about his wife Vildan and their 16 year old son. He always wants to see them happy, otherwise his happiness will be overshadowed, he smiles. Well known and popular on the island, he is probably one of the best connected Cypriots. It was he who "arranged" our first interview appointment with the President of TRNC. And that's what we love about him so much. Always ready to help, always open to great ideas and concepts or changes, no matter how crazy they sound - and there it is again, the principle of happiness! He has this wonderful personality that we also notice in many of his compatriots. And we are sure that we can experience many more "NEWS" with and through him. Because he recently published his "PROPERTY NEWS CYPRUS" https://www.propertynewscyprus.com/< /a> Page online. Here's the latest news from NC-Property Markt in colour, fresh and still warm. As colorful and varied as his website, we are delighted to call such a personable, inspiring and talented North Cypriot as our friend. Then we look forward to a colorful dinner for many more hours about life in North Cyprus, the many opportunities it offers us and our friendship, which will paint a colorful picture in our vita. And if not? - "Why you worry?

- ALAGADI TURTLE BEACH & ITS GOOD SOUL "ERKAN"-THE JEWELLERY & HANDICRAFT VENDOR
What would "Alagadi Turtle Paradise" Beach be, without its lovable hippie called "Erkan". An artist, philosopher and real walking encyclopedia in so many ways. As soon as you enter the Alagadi Turtle Paradise through the oleander-lined entrance, you may well be surprised as a German-speaking visitor with a friendly Hamburg "Na, wat schnackt". Then "Erkan" is a real institution on Alagadi Beach and a jewellery and handicraft seller. Einer unserer Lieblingsspots, wenn wir If you're ever in need of a little time out, you can't miss this place in our northern Cypriot collection. It is simply a magical interplay that lures us here again and again. The energy of the unique turtle nature reserve with one of the largest sandy beaches in the region, Erkan and his always interesting stories, which we have been able to listen to since the beginning of our first visit here, and the warm welcome from the operators of the beach shack "Alagadi Turtle Paradise". But today we devote all our attention to Erkan and the long-awaited interview with him. It is one of the interviews that particularly touched us, because Erkan takes us on his very personal journey through life. As a true hippie he travelled with his caravan through America and many other countries, settled on Mallorca for some time as a gallery owner, fell in love with a German girl and loves and adores everything that concerns fauna & flora. How he came back to Cyprus and became a tour guide and then settled down on Alagadi Beach with his dream job. As you can imagine, we didn't get by with 30 minutes of interview time this time. His life story is so inspiring, so colourful, so blooming and above all so entertaining and educational. We are sure that his mission is to bring people back to themselves and to nature. And one thing we guarantee is that he will do it - a little bit more with every visit to Alagadi. If you want to be infected by Erkan's deep knowledge, you should definitely check out this interview. And maybe the next time you visit the Alagadi Turtle Paradise, you won't be able to pass by the stand of this touching, introspective soul without a "Wat schnackt"! - SABRI ABIT- BELLAPAIS GARDEN RESTAURANT - A Cypriot with a German Past
"We know the Hotelier & Restaurant Owner "Sabri" already since 2018. A gray-haired, very well-groomed man with a lot of charm, glasses, shirt and suit, but no tie. We already got into conversation with Sabri during one of our first visits. He found us through our "being German" and we found him because of a travel documentary on television. His history and knowledge of history are well known to us and not only because of that, we asked him for an interview for our book "North Cyprus-On a Word". We arranged to meet Sabri on his summer terrace for this interview. Despite the enormous north wind from the sea, we wanted to capture the unique atmosphere. Why our microphones would fail that day is still not entirely clear to us. The test was successful as expected, but the recording of the interview, was recorded with a lot of background noise. We were very disappointed about this at first. Therefore, the whole interview on www.nordzypernaufeinwort, will only be an excerpt of the parts that were well understood. Then we said to ourselves, "It's like always in life. It is what it is and we make the best of it and don't shed another tear for a perfect recording of this interview." Sabri talks to us about his childhood experiences, his time in Germany as a press officer in the 80s/90s. Then it's back to Cyprus and his vision of Bellapais Gardens begins to grow. He tells of an evening meeting with friends for a good "Brandy Sour", his uncle's donkey, named "Ferrarari" and the purchase of this property. When asked what he would like to see in Cyprus, he sat back and began to tell the story. The talented storyteller Sabri will surely captivate you with his narration as much as he captivated us. We are especially looking forward to sharing this interview with you soon, even if it is not perfectly set to sound, but it is full of content. Until then you should not miss it to be pampered in Sabri's paradise https://www.bellapaisgardens.com. Sunny wishes, Yours, Samira & Marten
- LAW IN NORTHERN CYPRUS - with Pinar ÖCAL, Lawyer & Notary
There is a lot of heart and equally concentrated knowledge in this so petite, but equally strong woman. Double admission as a lawyer, once in England and then still on North Cyprus, immediately convey competence, security and passion. Pinar brings clarity and light into the darkness with all topics, approximately around the right of North Cyprus. Our appointment took place on a Friday afternoon. The atmosphere was relaxed as the last clients were taken care of and the well-deserved weekend was just around the corner. Pinar Öcal, www.lawlexcyprus.com. Her office in Alsancak, west of Girne, is friendly and flooded with light. It was there that we began the interview talking about her life in both worlds. How did she grow up? What were her goals? What decisions in her life have had a particular impact on her? Another focus of the interview was, of course, the legal situation in Northern Cyprus. How does the last will and testament work?, establishment of various corporate constructs? to how to get married on the island? ...and much more. Pinar has the gift of expressing the driest legal topics, in an absolutely understandable clarity. Even the driest and most complicated procedures she "serves" with her own lightness. Through her "two lives", alternating between Northern Cyprus and England, she carries the best of both worlds. On the one hand, her clear and unambiguous communication in the most beautiful British English and on the other hand, her warm, friendly and charming cypriot manner. Not only for these reasons, we decided to interview Pinar and are very happy to have the different facts from her prepared for you. We know that for many people clarity on these issues is very important. Her personal experiences, mixed with the enlightening legal advice, make this interview unique and absolutely worth watching. So be sure to watch. Coming soon here on our channel. Yours, Samira & Marten
- EAGLES NEST- ESENTEPES GASTRO- HOT-SPOT - In an interview with the charming operators Mike & Veysel
Really "big cinema", with fantastic company at our favorite table - this is, where you fall in love with North Cyprus https://www.facebook.com/eaglessnest On one of the busiest days - Sunday, fully booked, nonetheless, both operators welcome us from one of our absolute favorite locations for our book interview. Veysel & Mike. Mike, expat of Scottish origin and since 2015 permanently on the island and Veysel, born and raised in Kücük Erenköy, invited us to the journey to their "story" at the round table. It was as refreshing as the turquoise sea in the background. Two inspiring visionaries, that will give our book some really good taste. These 30 minutes were so entertaining because, even after 3 years at Eagles Nest, the two are still bubbling over with ideas and energy. Mike has illuminated many countries before discovering the ideal country to live in- North Cyprus, here you can have all together. Veysel, the significantly younger of the two, wanted to change his world already at the age of 12. When the two finally met in a bar, it became a friendship, which in 2020 also led to a partnership with the newly opened "EAGLES NEST" https://www.facebook.com/eaglessnest. Doubts that starting a gastronomic business is not entirely risk-free in such a crisis-ridden time, Mike swept aside with the words, "I've been through a lot of crises all over the world, I'm not afraid, I knew what we were want and what we definitely don't want and that's what was important." This is how the story of the two passionate globetrotters and friends of good taste began in 2020. They keep planning great ideas and projects every day, such as the reopening of the outdoor club - "The Edge". Starting next week, snacks and smaller dishes will also be offered here and of course with the best live acts, in old manner.. Veysel also told us that he is currently working on international stars - to accompany our guests into the fabulous sunset with the finest sounds. All information about events can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/eaglessnest. The entire video interview with all the details will soon be available on this channel or in our book at the latest. And we promise that not a dry eye will stay here. A sundowner at the Eagles Nest is an absolute "must have" during your stay in North Cyprus. See you soon, Yours, Samira & Marten
