Our first interview with the President of North Cyprus TRNC - Ersin Tatar

Our audience with the President for our book on North Cyprus. Bold jump into the deep end!

This is our second book that we are writing, but our first recorded video interview - without a rehearsal, but with the President of North Cyprus, Ersin Tatar. You can certainly imagine how "the pump" went here. But the motivation was the same and the result was an "audience" of exactly 30 minutes. The president doesn't always have such "cheerful" interview appointments. At least he took positive note of our happy and excited mood and talked through the 30 minutes just as "happy". He talks about the advantages of his country, the people, the upswing it is experiencing and his vision of where it should go. The video is still in progress, so we'll give you a few lines from the book for the time being.

Are we even allowed to make a video recording of the interview?

The situation was very exciting for us, especially since it is the first president of a state that we have had the opportunity to interview. We hardly dare say it, it was our first formal interview and it was also in English. I'm sure you can imagine how extraordinary this moment was for us that day. In the end it was a very friendly and benevolent conversation. He happily noted our vibrancy and our positive attitude towards North Cyprus in the preliminary talk, so he took more time for the interview than we had expected. It might as well have been just taking notes or tape recordings. But the video was acceptable to him. Since the President founded his own TV station in his pre-presidential career in Turkey as general coordinator of a large TV station and later in Nicosia, this was a business that he was familiar with from all sides.

In North Cyprus we have it all

President Ersin Tatar started with the sentence "In Northern Cyprus we have everything!" We have the sun, the green areas, the mountains, the sea, beautiful coasts, so beautiful environment. We're not that developed because we didn't have the opportunity to do that. In hindsight, however, this was even better for us, he slyly remarked, as it allowed the beautiful coast to be preserved. "Especially where they live, in the Esentepe region, Tatlisu is beautiful," he added.

An interesting cross-section of many topics followed

A long and wide-ranging digression on the airport, water supply, electricity, development of the construction industry, medical care, schools, the legal system, ecosystem and much more. about food culture to typical Cypriots, it was a very informative interview. The 30 minutes were up quickly and we were allowed to take a photo for the family album as a farewell. The whole interview is of course in the book and the video is here on our vlog.I hope we were able to make you a little excited and curious. For us it was of course a rocket start in terms of interviews! The next interview highlights one of the most delicious restaurants on the island. You may be curious.
